AES signed a contract for the reconstruction of the Youth center in Galabovo

June 19, 2015, Galabovo – Today, at an official ceremony, AES Bulgaria and the Municipality of Galabovo signed an agreement for the reconstruction of the youth center in the city of Galabovo. Galabovo Municipality is responsible for the construction of dikes at the nearby Sazliyka River to protect the complex from flooding in case of raising the river level. The construction works will start shortly after the execution of the contract.

Along with safety and the preservation of the environment, this is a fundamental value and priority for AES, “said the CEO of AES Bulgaria Mr. Olivier Marquette upon signing the contract. ”The project is of strategic importance for Galabovo, as it is aimed at young people. We are happy, that we can count on the support of such a responsible investor as AES, “said the Mayor of Galabovo Mr. Nikolay Tonev.

The youth center will be located on an area of over 45 acres in the park of Galabovo. The project includes the rehabilitation of an existing building, the construction of new facilities for sports and recreation, and the renovation and landscaping of the area around them. After completion of the construction, the complex will dispose of gyms, a fitness facility, tennis courts, a playground, and outdoor scenes.

The construction of the youth center is the largest public-private partnership in the region. The project is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility program of AES, which has invested nearly 7 million leva in the Galabovo area so far, of which more than 3 million leva in the improvement of the infrastructure in the city.
