We work like we live in our local communities…

because we do

By improving the reach and reliability of access to electricity, AES has improved the quality of life in dozens of countries. We strive to be a good corporate citizen in each of the communities where we operate. This includes developing managerial and technical talent, having local partners, engaging advisory boards, and investing in communities. In everything we do, we are guided by our shared values to put safety first, act with integrity, honor commitments, strive for excellence, and have fun through work.

For the last 11 years, AES Bulgaria has supported various socially significant projects that amount to an investment of nearly BGN 15 million. We get involved in solving local problems with our own resources, whether it’s building transportation infrastructure, combating floods, plumbing repairs, or repairs social institutions and schools.

The AES Bulgaria corporate social responsibility budget is three times higher than the comparable expenditures of the ten largest companies in the country. The way we manage our corporate social responsibility program demonstrates a high commitment to openness and dialogue with the local community with the ultimate goal of improving quality of life. We are committed to being a good corporate citizen and working with a responsibility to the community and the environment.

Supporting the sustainable development of Galabovo

AES Bulgaria and Galabovo Municipality signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. According to the Contract, AES will support a series of beneficial initiatives to the society, which will improve the standard of living for all the citizens in the Municipality. The new Agreement is a natural continuation of the long-term engagement AES has toward Galabovo Municipality and the good relations between the two sides.

Power the knowledge

For twelve consecutive years, the TPP AES Galabovo plant in Bulgaria has surprised local first graders with bags of school supplies. The 118 children who crossed the doorsteps of Galabovo schools for the first time received the materials.

Angel's Tree

In 2020, for the 11th consecutive Christmas holiday, the AES Bulgaria team supported children from low-income families in Galabovo with winter clothing and boots. The initiative, called Angels’ Tree, is supported by donations from the company and AES Bulgaria people. The municipality of Galabovo collects information on children in need and, after consulting with their teachers, determines how to best support each child. This year, AES Bulgaria was able to offer clothing to 149 children.
