AES Bulgaria’s employees keep guaranteeing the country’s energy security, following the measures to limit the risk of COVID-19

AES Bulgaria’s generating capacities continue guaranteeing the security of the energy supply in the country and in the period March 23 – 29, 2020 TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm generated 97 813 MWh. Thanks to their responsible attitude and compliance with the measures against the spread of COVID-19, the employees of AES Bulgaria provided 12,5% of the energy consumed in the country during the second week of the state of emergency. The generated amount of energy is more than 55% higher compared to the previous week. This means that every 8th megawatt hour of electricity consumed by the households and the business customers in this period was generated by AES Bulgaria capacities.

Between March 23 and 29, 2020, TPP AES Galabovo, the most advanced TPP in the Balkans, generated 81 231 MWh of energy. This represents 10,4 % of the total energy consumption in Bulgaria in this period.

For the same period, the largest wind farm in Bulgaria – St. Nikola, generated 16 582 MWh, which accounted for 2,1% of the energy used in Bulgaria between March 23 and 29, 2020.

This proves once again the key role of TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm for the stability and reliability of the Bulgarian energy sector.

To guarantee the employees’ health and the business continuity, stringent anti-epidemic measures are being applied on the territory of TPP AES Galabovo as well as on the territory of St. Nikola Wind Farm. Access of external persons who don’t have a critical role for ensuring generation is forbidden.
