AES’ TPP in Galabovo achieves three-year production record

The power plant provided 1,413,498.60 MWh of electricity in the first six months of 2025

 

AES’ TPP in Galabovo, Bulgaria's most advanced coal-fired power plant, has achieved a three-year production record. For the first six months of this year, the plant generated 1,413,498.60 MWh of electricity, marking its highest output for the first half of any year in the past three years.

In June alone, AES’ TPP in Galabovo, the country's only newly built coal-fired plant, generated 138,084.66 MWh of electricity. This contribution by AES Bulgaria's power plant covered 5% of Bulgaria's total consumption last month. For the first six months of this year, the plant's generation accounted for 7% of the country's electricity consumption.

Through its operations, AES’ TPP in Galabovo continues to ensure reliable and secure electricity supply and provides crucial system services. With its characteristics meeting all modern requirements, the power plant remains critically crucial for balancing the energy system, a task becoming increasingly complex with the large-scale integration of RES.
