The AES Bulgaria Tennis Stars program attracted a lot of attention in the town of Troyan. The joint initiative between AES Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Tennis Federation, called “AES Bulgaria Tennis Stars”, is the first of its kind in Bulgaria to be realized in 20 towns and cities. It aims to educate and support children and local tennis talents, as well as their coaches and clubs.

Over 40 children from different age groups from the Ski-Tennis Club – Troyan took part in an open lesson, which was attended by Todor Enev, captain of the Davis Cup national tennis team and Presian Koev, who is responsible for Development at the Bulgarian Tennis Federation. After the training session the parents and children had the opportunity to discuss different topics and to get development advicefrom Todor Enev.

“I would like to thank AES Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Tennis Federation for this initiative. The children were extremely excited and even more ambitious to develop their skills on the tennis court”, said Yordan Stefanov, founder and manager of Ski-Tennis Club Troyan.

After the training session a meeting was held with the mayor of Troyan Municipality, Donka Mihaylova, during which the attendees discussed the development of sport, and tennis in particular, in the municipality.

“We spoke about the future development of tennis in Troyan. We hope to find a better facility for the children to train in during the winter season.”, Yordan Stefanov said after the meeting. Around 70 children, aged 5 to 14, train at the Ski-Tennis Club – Troyan, and in summer their number even exceeds 100.
