AES Bulgaria generating capacities provided energy for more than 1 million consumers in the first month of the state of emergency in Bulgaria

The employees of TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm produced together 302 388 MWh of energy, applying the measures against the spread of COVID-19 

For one month in the conditions of the state of emergency in Bulgaria due to COVID-19, the generating capacities of AES Bulgaria provided energy enough to satisfy the average monthly consumption of 1 112 000 Bulgarian customers. TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm generated together more than 302 388 MWh of energy in the period March 13 – April 13, which once again proves the key role of the two power plants for Bulgaria’s energy security.

Only for the last week, from April 6 to April 12, 2020, TPP AES Galabovo the most modern thermal power plant in the Balkans, generated 51 509 MWh of energy. In general, for the first month of the state of emergency, TPP AES Galabovo provided for the households and business consumers in Bulgaria 262 054 MWh of reliable energy.

During the first month of the state of emergency in Bulgaria the largest wind park in Bulgaria – St. Nikola Wind Farm, generated 40 334 MWh of clean energy for the Bulgarian customers. Only for the last week, from April 6 to April 12, 2020, the 156-MW capacity provided 8582 MWh of wind energy.

The generating capacities of AES Bulgaria continue to work in compliance with the approved internal action plan related to COVID-19 and applying the imposed measures for limiting the spread of the infection. The company undertook all the necessary actions to guarantee the life and the health of its employees in the conditions of pandemic. Access to the territory of TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm continues to be forbidden for external persons. The management of AES Bulgaria thanks to all employees, who even in the heavy conditions of COVID-19 devotedly and responsibly guarantee Bulgaria’s energy security, providing the necessary energy for the energy system.
