AES Bulgaria Continues Guaranteeing the Security of Electricity Supply

March 16, 2020

The company has undertaken the necessary measures to limit the risk for its employees and to secure the continuity of generation

Amid the extraordinary situation in Bulgaria, AES Bulgaria’s facilities – TPP AES Galabovo, the most modern thermal power plant in the region, and St. Nikola, the biggest wind farm in the country, are operating at a normal regime guaranteeing the domestic electricity supply.

TPP AES Galabovo’s lignite storage is full at a maximum capacity, which guarantee full-load operations, Todor Belezhkov, AES Bulgaria Plant Manager, announced. The power plant works with more than 97% efficiency rate of its FGD systems.

AES Bulgaria has undertaken all necessary measures to secure the health of its employees and contractors by introducing and executing a package of measures, aimed at minimizing possible spreading of the COVID-19 epidemic. The company uses reliable digital systems, which facilitate telecommuting for all employees whose duties allow remote work.

The access of visitors (that are not critical for securing the normal exploitation) to the operational facilities has been suspended. So far, no company employees have been registered for exposure to COVID-19. To further decrease the risk of exposure, a plan has been developed to secure the continuity of generation with decreased number of the power plants’ staff.

The management of AES Bulgaria believes that in common efforts and with the sensible behavior of each and every one of us the extraordinary situation our society is facing can be successfully overcome. Let us stay stronger together!
